Kirsty Kavanagh / Principal

 

Kirsty Kavanagh graduated from University College Dublin with an Honours Degree in Economics. She then went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies in DIT before commencing her studies in the Law Society of Ireland. Kirsty qualified as a Solicitor in 2010. Kirsty obtained a Certificate in Charity Law, Trusteeship and Governance in 2015 from the Law Society of Ireland. Kirsty completed a Diploma in Healthcare Law in 2017. Kirsty has worked in the legal sector since 2006 and since qualification Kirsty worked as an associate Solicitor in a prominent law firm in the South East until she founded Kavanagh and Co Solicitors in September 2015. 

Kirsty is a Board Member of the Carlow Chamber of Commerce and a Board Member of the Tullow Community Group CLG. Both are voluntary positions.

Kirsty is the daughter of Des and Marian originally from Burton Hall, Co. Carlow now resides in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow with her Partner David. Kirsty is passionate about animals. Chloe the Boxer dog and Bertie the Connemara Horse are the real bosses at home! Relaxation comes in the form of walking Chloe and going for long hacks with Bertie. Kirsty comes from a Rugby mad household and is a keen Carlow, Leinster and Ireland Rugby fan. 

Kirsty set up Kavanagh and Co Solicitors in September 2015 and the practice has gone from strength to strength since its inception. 

Kirsty has extensive experience in Conveyancing, Family Law, Civil Litigation, Employment Law, Medical Negligence, Regulatory Law, and Probate and Will Drafting.

Aoife Smithwick  / Solicitor

Aoife Smithwick is originally from Kilkenny, daughter of Peter and Deirdre. Aoife studied law in UCD and later went onto study in the Law School. She qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and has worked as a solicitor since then. Aoife has worked in small to medium size practices since her qualification and has extensive knowledge in Conveyancing, Family Law, Civil Litigation, Equine Law, Licensing, Medical Negligence, Probate and Will Drafting. Since qualifying Aoife has completed her studies in Collaborative Law.  

 Aoife now lives in Donard, Co. Wicklow with her husband Eric and their two children. When Aoife is not working she can be found farming. Spring brings plenty of activity on the farm and Aoife loves the lambing season and quite literally gets stuck in. Aoife is passionate about her animals. She has many horses and takes every opportunity to get out for a gallop. She takes pride in bringing her children to shows and pony games. 
 Between family, farming, horses, being an avid cook and reader Aoife is a lot more than just a Solicitor

Paula Walshe  / Legal Executive

 

Kirsty welcomed Paula Walshe, Legal Executive, into the practice in September 2015. A native of County Carlow, Paula has worked in law since 2004. She graduated with a Certificate in Legal Studies from Waterford Institute of Technology in 2003 and she also holds a Diploma in Professional Legal Studies from Griffith College Dublin which she obtained in 2005. Paula is a member of the Irish Institute of Legal Executives. Paula works closely with the Solicitors in the preparation and completion of cases. She is always available to assist clients with their queries and concerns.  She is dedicated to our clients wellbeing and is very much person centered.

Paula works mainly in Litigation, Family, Employment and Licensing Law.
